Double-cropping of wheat and cotton: application of a new agrotechnique based on growing cotton in a restricted root-zone volume

Double cropping of wheat and cotton was achieved in 1983 by late sowing of cotton after wheat harvest. Daily fertilization through the irrigation system resulted in restricted root zone volumes. Seed cotton yields of high sieve quality of 650-690 kg were obtained, compared with 420 kg of low sieve quality obtained in other fields.
