In pot experiments with maize, rape, Lolium 'Printo', and onion plants, no close correlation was found between the percentage K in the dry matter (indicating K uptake efficiency) and (1) rate of K uptake per cm of root, (2) root-shoot dry weight ratio, or (3) average root age (indicating stage of active K uptake).
