Cotton Giza 69 grown during 1978-9 was treated with 0, 15, 30 or 45 kg N as urea, ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulphate/ha. The number of bolls increased with increase in N levels while the percentage of open bolls and lint percentage decreased. Wt. of seed cotton/boll and seed index was unaffected by N application. Seed cotton yield in response to 15, 30 or 45 kg N/feddan was increased by 8.5, 18.7 and 21.7% in 1978 and by 2.0, 13.0 and 20.5%, resp., in 1979.
