Effect of rate and date of nitrogen application on production of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench)
In field trials in Sao Paulo, sorghum was given 0, 40, 80 or 120 kg N/ha as ammonium nitrate (a) at sowing, (b) 50% at sowing + 50% at apical differentiation or (c) 50% at sowing + 50% at the boot stage. N application did not significantly increase grain production but did shorten growth cycles.
