Effect of rice leafminer (Diptera: Ephydridae) feeding on early growth of the rice plant

, : Effect of rice leafminer (Diptera: Ephydridae) feeding on early growth of the rice plant. Journal of Economic Entomology 76(5): 1022-1027

In greenhouse experiments in California in 1981 on the effect of feeding by larvae of Hydrellia griseola (Fall.) on the early growth of rice plants, 1, 2 and 4 eggs were transferred to the single 3rd, 4th and 5th leaves of flooded seedlings and 2 eggs were transferred to multiple-leaf combinations of the 4th, 5th and 7th leaves. Plant weight and root weight showed significant differences among the treatments at the 5% level 18-26 days after infestation in all the experiments.
