Effect of soil-moisture tensions and weed control on yield, evapotranspiration, consumptive-use efficiency and moisture-extraction pattern by soybean

Soyabeans were irigated at 0.5 or 0.75 atm. tension either throughout the growth period or with different combinations at different growth stages. Irrigation at 0.5 atm. tension throughout the growth period increased the number of filled pods/plant and 1000-seed wt. and resulted in highest values for seed yields, evapotranspiration, water use efficiency (WUE) and moisture extraction from the top 15-cm soil layer.
