In central Brazil, elephant grass is the most widely used supplementary feed in the dry season; most of its herbage is produced in the wet season and this could be conserved as silage. 3 trials were carried out in 1979-80 to study the effect of additives applied at ensiling on quality (organic acids and pH), digestibility, intake and milk production.
