Effect of spawning method on the yield of Agaricus brunnescens Peck
In one trial with Agaricus bisporus (1) super spawning, (2) shake up spawning, (3) mixed spawning and (4) spot spawning were compared. Mixed spawning (using wheat grain) produced the greatest numbers of buttons and the highest yield, namely, 371 and 6243 g, respectively, per wooden tray (100 x 50 x 20 cm). In another trial treatments (1) and (4) were replaced by 2- or 3-layered spawning.
