Effect of straw incorporation in soils on yield and some macro-nutrient uptake by wheat

Wheat Manitou grown in Blaine Lake and Waitville soils in Canada with or without stubble removal was given various combinations of 2.5 or 7.5 t stubble + straw, 32.5 kg P2O5 and 7.5-87.5 kg N/ha. Straw application increased grain yield but had little effect on plant N, P, K, Ca or Mg conc. at mid-tillering, boot or ripening stages. Straw alone or with P application had no effect on Mg or Ca conc. but depressed K.
