Effect of time and duration of closure of pasture for wilted silage on milk production

Pastures were closed to grazing on 23 Sept. or 10 Oct. and cut for silage after 4 or 6 wk. With 40 cows in mid-lactation daily silage digestible DM intake was higher for early vs. late closure and for cutting after 4 vs. 6 wk (P < 0.001).
