Different amounts of static ballast and different values of inflation pressure were compared using radial tractor tyres (18.4R38) on a John Deere 4630 tractor. Tests were performed on tilled and untilled soil, and drawbar pull, wheel slip and tractive efficiency studied. Results indicated that drawbar pulls and tractive efficiency can be maximized through proper adjustment of static vertical load and inflation pressure.
