Abstract
For North Caucasus Mutton-Wool X Merino fattened lambs (7 femalefemale and 8 malemale), fibre diameter averaged 27.5 and 28.2 micro m resp., fibre strength 0.10 and 0.11 N, tensile strength 10.6 and 13.10%, the max. staple length 81.3 and 65.6 mm, the av. staple length 59.3 and 48.9 mm, staple gradient 26.8 and 26.3%, the percentage of short fibres 17.0 and 18.9, fibre length 55.1 and 46.9 mm, and wool density (per 100 mmsuperscript 2) 3178 and 3063, the differences for the max. and the av. staple length and for fibre length being significant.
