Experimental reproduction of lymphoid leukosis in calves with purified bovine leukosis virus

Experimental reproduction of lymphoid leukosis in calves with purified bovine leukosis virus

Voprosy Onkologii 30(1): 76-85

Fourteen calves aged 1-30 days were inoculated i/p and i/v with bovine leukosis virus obtained from blood serum and milk of known leukaemic cows, and with virus propagated in leukocyte cultures. Twelve subsequently responded to one or more diagnostic tests. Two calves showed antibodies against viral glycoprotein antigen during 5 months and the remaining ten responded to several tests throughout the experiment. Seven out of 10 animals with persistent infection developed haemoblastosis.
