Feeding response of the green peach aphid (Homoptera: Aphididae) to potato glandular trichomes

The feeding behaviour of Myzus persicae (Sulz.) on the resistant potato species Solanum berthaultii was characterized in laboratory studies in New York State in 1982 by a delay in probing, probes of shorter duration and a reduction in total feeding time, when compared with the susceptible cultivated potato cultivar Hudson. The causal factor was associated with type B glandular trichomes.
