Genetic control and mode of inheritance of allozyme variation in Old World cotton: Gossypium arboreum L. and Gossypium herbaceum L



American Journal of Botany 71(5, II): 191



Eighteen enzyme systems were resolved by electrophoretic analysis of seed extracts from accessions of Gossypium arboreum and G. herbaceum. Allelic polymorphisms were observed in 10 of these systems. Genetic analysis of synthetic intraspecific and interspecific F2 and backcross progenies indicated that 13 Mendelian loci code for codominantly inherited, single gene traits in these 10 polymorphic systems.
