Genetic variation for grain yield and related traits in sorghum introgression populations

Genetic variation for grain yield and related traits in sorghum introgression populations

Tag. Theoretical and Applied Genetics. Theoretische und Angewandte Genetik 68(1-2): 145-153

Each of two cultivars were crossed with representatives of three wild sorghum races. BC0 to BC4-derived populations containing 50 to 3.125% wild germplasm, respectively, were evaluated for grain yield, 100-grain weight, number of days to flowering and plant height. Population means increased linearly with backcrossing for grain weight, increased curvilinearly for grain yield, decreased curvilinearly for plant height and changed erratically for days to flowering.
