Registered or promising new maize hybrids were grown during 1980-81 without irrigation in S. and W. Romania. Out of 8 early or semi-early cv., HS 218 produced the highest yield of 7.26 t/ha; P. 3780 was the highest yielder of 9 semi-late cv., producing 7.25 t/ha, while the late HS 420 produced the highest yield of 8.25 t/ha.
