Non-selective inhibition of pollen germination by stigmatic exudates of Chlorophytum and Dipcadi species (Liliaceae)

Non-selective inhibition of pollen germination by stigmatic exudates of Chlorophytum and Dipcadi species (Liliaceae)

Current Science 53(4): 214-215

ISSN/ISBN: 0011-3891

Stigmatic exudates of the sterile C. malabaricum when added to a culture solution in a 1:1 ratio reduced by 40-50% the germination of pollen of 4 fertile Chlorophytum species and this was attributed to the presence of flavonoids not found in exudates from fertile species.
