Number of genome fragments of barley stripe mosaic virus as influenced by passage on barley forms differing in resistance

, : Number of genome fragments of barley stripe mosaic virus as influenced by passage on barley forms differing in resistance. Tagungsbericht, Akademie der Landwirtschaftswissenschaften der Deutschen Demokratischen Re ik (216, I): 107-114

Two moderately resistant and two susceptible forms of Hordeum vulgare were inoculated with two virus strains characterized by three and four RNA fragments respectively. Over two years, 20 passages were carried out; during these, marked variation was observed in the proportions of the RNA fragments in each strain. Viral multiplication rates were among the factors which influenced the variation in proportion, and these depended on host susceptibility or resistance.
