Nut entry by 1st summer generation pecan nut casebearer

, : Nut entry by 1st summer generation pecan nut casebearer. Southwestern Entomologist 9(1): 13-21

The fates of insecticide-free cohorts of pecan nut were determined by regular examination during May and June in orchards near College Station, Texas, during 1979-81. The larvae of the 1st summer generation of Acrobasis nuxvorella Neunzig destroyed 7.9-39.5% of the nuts, depending on the location and year. Nut disappearance from uninfested clusters ranged from 14.4 to 46.9%, and these 'losses' generally occurred after the attack period of the moth.
