Journal of the American Dietetic Association 82(4): 389-393

Nutrition knowledge and preferences of food cooperative shoppers

In California and in Ithaca, New York, USA, the 8 cooperatives in the study stocked 1208 book titles and the 8 supermarkets stocked 1825, of which 63.3% and 1.7% were on food and nutrition. Between 75 shoppers in cooperatives, and a group matched by age, sex and education of 75 shoppers in supermarkets, there was no significant difference in knowledge of nutrition.
