Examination of 367 men in Kwale District in the coastal lowlands of Kenya is reported. Many of the workers had evidence of undernutrition as judged by anthropometry. About 41% of men had haemoglobin below 13 g/100 ml. Faecal samples showed eggs of hookworm in 69% and of Trichuris trichiura in 47%. About 40% of men had Schistosoma haematobium ova in their urine and 26% had Plasmodium spp. in a single blood film.
