, : Observations on the spread of Phoracantha semipunctata F. in Sardinia, Sicily and central-southern Italy. Atti XII Congresso Nazionale Italiano di Entomologia, Roma 5-9 novembre 1980 Volume II: 455-464

Phoracantha semipunctata (F.), which was first recorded in Sardinia in 1970, has since spread to Sicily and coastal and southern parts of mainland Italy, attacking freshly cut logs or weakened trees of Eucalyptus spp. The females oviposited in crevices in the bark in July or August, and the eggs hatched in 8-12 days. The larvae fed first in the bark for about a month and later in the wood, where they pupated in the following spring.
