Abstract
A comparative study was conducted on the situation and problems of part time farming in the developed countries such as the GFR, France, Italy and Japan, based on consideration of (1) the general prevalence of part time farming which constitutes a key issue in Japanese agricultural policies and (2) the various ways in which the importance of part time farming has been evaluated in Western Europe and Japan. The characteristics of part time farming in each country were considered and their role in agricultural development under the circumstances of contemporary developed economies was evaluated. The first part of the book considers the characteristics and problems of part time farming in developed countries, while the second comprises a comparative study of the present situation, an evaluation of part time farming, and a survey of various views on the importance of part time farming in agricultural development.
