Stylosanthes guianensis Schofield and Endeavour, Desmodium uncinatum Silverleaf, Centrosema pubescens, Lotononis bainesii Miles, Trifolium semipilosum Safari, lucerne Hunter River and Lablab purpureus Dolichos in mixtures with Rhodes grass gave av. DM yields of 1.06, 1.13, 1.02, 0.83, 0.99, 1.01, 0.88 and 1.11 t/ha in 1980 and 1.35, 1.23, 0.90, 1.09, 1.0, 0.83, 0.81 and 0.99 t/ha in 1981 in SW Japan compared with 0.84 and 0.73 t, resp., for pure Rhodes grass swards.
