Postpartum performance in a diallel cross among lines of mice selected for litter size and body weight



Journal of Animal Science 58(4): 863-877



Postpartum dam performance was studied in a complete diallel design involving 5 lines of mice. The selection criteria in 4 lines were resp. large litter size at birth (L+), high 6-wk body weight (W+), an index for large litter size and low 6-wk body weight (L+W-), and the complementary index (L-W+). The 5th line was a randombred control. Females from the 5 lines and 20 reciprocal F1 crosses were mated to sires of another randomly selected control line.
