Potyviruses recorded in Portugal. Purification, serology and host-virus ultrastructural relationships

Potyviruses recorded in Portugal. Purification, serology and host-virus ultrastructural relationships

Boletim da Sociedade Broteriana, 2 53(2): 933-942

Bean common mosaic virus, bean yellow mosaic virus, beet mosaic virus, carnation vein mottle virus, onion yellow dwarf virus, potato virus Y, soyabean mosaic virus and sugarcane mosaic virus are reported. An improved purification method is described which preserves infectivity and prevents aggregation and fragmentation of the virions. Serological assays revealed positive though erratic relationships among some of the viruses, but never between BCMV and BMV.
