Relationship of soil characteristics with sulphur content of soil and response of groundnut to sulphur and phosphorus

In field trials in 1975-6, effects of the application of 0-20 p.p.m. S and/or 0-24 p.p.m. P2O5 on yield of groundnuts grown on a loamy sand soil were determined. The S status of the soil was related to its organic C and clay contents. Crops showed significant response to 10 p.p.m. S and 8 p.p.m. P. S x P interaction was not significant. The S and N uptake was non-significantly increased with applied S and P.
