Remote sensing of land resources. A review of current research in the Department of Geography, University of Reading



Bulletin of the Society of University Cartographers SUC 16(2): 1-8



The contribution that remote sensing can make to the survey and monitoring of land resources is described for a variety of scales. Continent-wide vegetation surveys utilising coarse resolution weather satellite data are first outlined. The value of Landsat MSS data for land resources survey is described both when traditional photo-interpretative methods are used and when computer-assisted techniques are applied to digital data.
