Resistance of oats to crown rust and powdery mildew in Central Europe

Resistance of oats to crown rust and powdery mildew in Central Europe

Tagungsbericht, Akademie der Landwirtschaftswissenschaften der Deutschen Demokratischen Re ik (216, II): 523-540

Studies of isolates of Puccinia coronata during 1965-1976 in Austria and Czechoslovakia showed 25 standard races, which could be classified into 9 virulence groups containing 17 pathotypes with up to 5 virulence genes. The most effective resistance genes against P. coronata were Pc39, Pc48, Pc50, Pc55, Pc58, Pc59 and Pc62. The cultivars Garland and Dodge, and Czechoslovakian derivatives of them, were resistant to all the isolates, except for one race.
