Response of direct seeded rice raised under puddled conditions to varying irrigation levels in different growth stages

Direct sown rice was grown with (a) 5-cm submergence-saturation, (b) 5-cm irrigation at field capacity or (c) under rainfed conditions, each imposed either throughout the growth period or in combinations with others at different growth stages. The rainfall was 597 mm from (d) sowing to panicle initiation (PI), 128 mm (e) from PI to 50% flowering and 52 mm (f) from 50% flowering to maturation.
