Abstract
The progress made in research on parasitic arthropods of medical and veterinary importance in the Kazakh SSR, USSR, are reviewed and discussed together with perspectives for future developments. Particular reference is made to biology, ecology and biological control. The groups of arthropods discussed include ixodid ticks, gamasoid mites, mosquitoes, black flies, biting midges, horse-flies and warble-flies.
