Serologic studies on porcine strains of Haemophilus parahaemolyticus (pleuropneumoniae): antigenic specificity and prevalence of antibodies to serotypes

Haemophilus (Actinobacillus) pleuropneumoniae strain HP 8 (serotype 2) was used to infect 2-week-old SPF piglets. Blood samples were taken before and at intervals after inoculation for assay of agglutinating and CF antibodies. In addition, serum samples were collected from known infected herds in Japan and from herds of unknown infection status in Korea in 1978. Agglutination titres of 1:10 before inoculation were eliminated by treatment with kaolin.
