Sex ratio, cornual implantation and ovarian activity in the pregnant water buffalo

The genital tracts of 232 pregnant buffaloes were examined after slaughter. Of the foetuses, 47.0% were and 41.8% were it was not possible to determine the sex of the remainder. Exclusive of foetuses that had migrated as ova, 54.3% of foetuses were in the right and 40.1% in the left uterine horn (P less than 0.05). Transuterine migration of ova from the left to the right horn was observed in 2.15% of the pregnancies, and from the right to the left horn in 3.45%.
