Southern limit of the distribution for the soybean pod gall midge, Asphondylia sp. (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae)

Southern limit of the distribution for the soybean pod gall midge, Asphondylia sp. (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae)

Japanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology 274: 265-269

ISSN/ISBN: 0021-4914

Recent studies on the food-plant range and distribution in Japan of the species of Asphondylia that causes galls on soyabean showed that this cecidomyiid occurs further south than had been thought; it had previously been reported from Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu and from Tanegashima Island, but was reared in 1982 from pupae collected on soyabean on Amami Island.
