When cheese mites were put on fenitrothion-treated paper in a Petri dish for 24 h, mortality increased from 28-54 and 17-67% to 69-91 and 92-100% as fenitrothion application increased from 0.1 to 2 g/msuperscript 2 in dishes covered with paper or paper + parafilm, resp. There was always higher mortality among the mites on the treated surface than among mites which escaped to other surfaces.
