Study of the variability of populations of durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) of different origins. II. Analysis of variation and covariation

Two populations (one from Italy, the other from Ethiopia) were each studied for 12 characters, 65 progenies from the former and 67 from the latter being used. The most variable characters were days to heading, flag-leaf size and grain weight. The coefficients of variability did not greatly differ between the populations, except for flag leaf size and date of senescence; the variability was due more to differences among progenies than to differences among plants within progenies.
