Susceptibility of Culicidae to the beta -exotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis

Susceptibility of Culicidae to the beta -exotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis

Entomophaga 29(1): 95-108

ISSN/ISBN: 0013-8959

Studies in France showed that the thermostable beta -exotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis serotype H 1 (B. thuringiensis var. thuringiensis) was toxic by ingestion (but not by contact) to all adults of Aedes aegypti (L.), Anopheles stephensi List. and Culex pipiens L., affording complete mortality within 5-8 days at 1mg/ml liquid diet. The susceptiblity of the larvae was proportional to the concentration ingested.
