The effect of feed denial in starter diets on the performance of broiler chickens



Poultry Science 62(9): 1915-1917



Commercial broiler chickens were from 8 to 21 or 15 to 28 days old denied feed daily for 8 or 12 h. Feed denial did not affect mortality. Bodyweight at 28 days was reduced, and feed conversion was improved by feed denial. The duration of daily feed deprivation had a greater impact than age at imposition of feed restriction, and the 12-h daily feed denial diminished the growth performance.
