The influence of fertilization on certain yield components of maize in a long term fertilizer experiment

Various yield components of maize hybrid R200 were investigated in 1981-2 in fertilizer trials started in 1939 in which plots were given N, P and K, any 2, only 1 or none of those nutrients. Number of grains/ear and grain wt. had the greatest influence on grain yield and accounted for 61 and 68%, resp., of variations in yield.
