The influence of six generations of selection for fertility of frozen-thawed semen in the fowl on fertility, semen characteristics and semen cholesterol and phospholipid levels

All estimates of fertility of frozen and fresh semen were higher (P less than 0.01) in the selected line than in the unselected control line, in each generation studied (4, 5 and 6). Egg hatchability was not affected by selection. Semen volume decreased, sperm motility improved significantly by generation 6, and sperm concentration tended to increase.
