The role of birds in natural foci of tick-borne encephalitis in the western Sikhote-Alin Mts



Vliyanie khozyastvenno deyatel' nosti na strukturu prirodnykh ochagov kleshchevogo entsefalita v Primorskom krae: recd 1984; 90-98



The role of birds in natural foci of tick-borne encephalitis in the western Sikhote-Alin Mts. in the Maritime Territory, USSR, was studied in 1975 and 1977-80. Birds were parasitized by Ixodes persulcatus Schulze, I. pavlovskyi Pom., Haemaphysalis japonica Warb. and H. concinna Koch. The seasonal dynamics of birds differed between the closed montane forests and the forest belts of the foothills.
