Toxicity of insecticides to the green peach aphid (Homoptera: Aphididae) in laboratory and field tests, 1971-1982

Laboratory tests were carried out to determine the toxicity of various standard and new insecticides to populations of Myzus persicae (Sulz.), the most important vegetable aphid in North America, collected from pepper in Ontario in the autumn of most years from 1971 to 1980. The populations were resistant to malathion in 1971, and resistance to 3 other insecticides was suspected. By 1980, resistance was recorded for 13 compounds, and cross-resistance was suspected for 3 newer insecticides.
