A comparative economic evaluation of agro-forestry, silvo-agriculture and silvo-pastoral systems in drylands

An economic evaluation was carried out of agro-forestry, silvo-agriculture and silvo-pastoral systems under study at the research farm of the All-India Co-ordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture (ICAR), Hyderabad. All these systems were found to be economic and viable. The annuity value was Rs799 for agro-forestry, Rs598 for silvo-agriculture and Rs1142 for silvo-pastoral systems. The corresponding benefit-cost ratios were 1.45, 1.29 and 2.25.
