A comparison of pre-weaning growth performance of calves fed milk replacer or whole milk

From age 5 days to weaning at 56 days old 51 calves were given a local (MRL) or imported milk replacer (MRI) or whole milk at 10% of bodyweight in 2 portions daily. Starter pellets (20% protein) and fresh grass were given to appetite at age 3 weeks. DM intakes were from liquid diet 21.4, 17.8 and 17.8, from starter 5.9, 12.7 and 6.4 and total intake 31.6, 35.2 and 29.4 kg, respectively.
