Abstract
Results of this study show that the genesis and formation of paddy soils in this district are predominantly affected by cultivation and management. Four groups of paddy soils were distinguishable: (1) soils developed from lateritic uplands; (2) latosols formed through erosion and deposition processes; (3) soils formed from lateritic erosion materials, but partially mixed with aeolian sands; (4) soils formed mainly from aeolian sands, but partially mixed with lateritic materials.
