Agricultural development policies in the African farming areas of Zimbabwe

Agricultural development policies in the African farming areas of Zimbabwe

Geography 71(2(311)): 105-115

The transfer of political power from a white minority government to a black majority government in Zimbabwe in 1980 has been followed by a major shift in development emphasis and a redirection of resources from the modern, mainly urban-based sector to the rural subsistence sector. This paper discusses some of the policy changes and strategies that are being implemented to improve agricultural production and promote the development of the subsistence sector.
