Five-year accumulated yields (1979-1984) were higher for coffee in association with E. poeppigiana than with C. alliodora (12 897 and 9436 kg dry weight ha-1, respectively). C. alliodora growth was measured regularly; 7-year-old trees had an average height of 14.7 m and an average diameter of 30.3 cm, giving a total stem wood volume of 90 msuperscript 3 ha-1. Average annual natural litter fall was 7420 kg ha-1 in coffee with C. alliodora and 8847 kg ha-1 in coffee with E. poeppigiana.
