Pooled results from 4 of 5 lactation trials using different diets showed that a blend of ammonium salts of volatile fatty acids at 120 g/day increased daily yields of milk and 4% FCM (av. 26.6 and 25.6 vs. 24.9 and 23.9 kg resp.), and feed conversion efficiency. The treatment decreased milk protein content but fat content and protein yield were not affected.
