An aberrant female of Hyalomma anatolicum anatolicum and its development

, : An aberrant female of Hyalomma anatolicum anatolicum and its development. Cheiron 14(6): 329-330

A morphologically abnormal nymph of Hyalomma anatolicum anatolicum was collected from a buffalo in Haryana, India. After moulting, the female retained a notch on the posterior part of her body. The adult tick also had a supernumerary anal opening, 2 pairs of spiracular plates instead of the normal single pair and nearly double the normal number of festoons. At 28 degrees C and 80% RH, it had a preoviposition period of 30 days and laid 370 eggs, of which 17.3% hatched.
